In 1930, Father Joe Skelly was appointed Parish Priest of St George, which included Dirranbandi, Bollon and Thallon. For the first year Fr Skelly slept in his swag on the verandah of the Church. However it can probably be said that he laid the foundations of the parish. Fr Joe Skelly had the Presbytery and Convent built in 1933. The school classrooms were under the Convent and in the Church, also on the verandah of the Church.
